Financial Information 2008-2009

General Information
SCA is a not-for-profit corporation sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, Regional Community of New York. All operating expenses of the school are met through the collection of tuition, fees and fundraisers.

Scholarships
An upperclass student may receive a scholarship if she ranks among the top three students in her class at the conclusion of the academic year. This distinction is based on cumulative rank. Families of students on scholarship are required to make a tax-deductible donation to the scholarship fund of $300 for a full and $200 for a partial scholarship winner.

Delinquent Tuition Policy
Students who are in arrears may not be allowed to attend, participate in or pay for selected school functions, trips or events whether academic, athletic and/or social. In addition, students may not be allowed to receive report cards, transcripts and/or diplomas. In extreme situations, students may not be allowed to attend class until their account has been satisfactorily settled. Exceptions to this policy or any special arrangements are to be made with the school's finance director and with the approval of the president and/or principal.

Withdrawal/Dismissal Policy
Tuition paid will be refunded as follows:

  • Tuition will be charged only for those months in attendance.
  • Students who withdraw or are dismissed on or before the 15th of any month will be refunded for half a month's tuition provided that month has been paid.
  • Students who withdraw or are dismissed after the 15th of any month will not be refunded any tuition for that month.
  • NO FEES ARE REFUNDABLE.

Additional Daughter Policy
A family with a second daughter will receive a one-month reduction on her final tuition payment. This is based on the older daughter's monthly tuition payment.

Financial Aid Policy
In order to qualify for financial aid, each family must submit an application and supporting documentation by the due date. Applicants will be notified of all decisions by mail. This application MUST be submitted YEARLY. Students who receive financial aid from St. Catharine Academy are ineligible for the school international trip in the spring.
