Upcoming Dates & Deadlines:

August 21, 2023 (9:00 AM EST) - October 26, 2023 (11:59 PM EST): Register for the TACHS Exam. For more information please visit www.tachsinfo.com.

August 21, 2023 - November 4, 2023:Enter your HS Choices at tachsinfo.com. Your choices may be entered or changed up until November 4, 2023 at 11:59 PM EST. Failure to complete this information by the deadline will result in scores being unavailable to your High School choices.  SCA's TACHS ID # is 215.

August 31, 2023: Registration for Spend A Day, Fall 2023 is now open for 8th grade girls. Slots fill quickly. To reserve your day at SCA, register here.

October 1, 2023 - December 22, 2023: The window to apply for Financial Aid for the incoming Grade 9 students opens on October 1st. The window closes on December 22, 2023. All applications are filed online and cost $40.00 which is non-refundable. If you need assistance in applying, please contact the Finance Office at 718-882-2882, Ext. 162. Students will be notified of financial aid awards in their acceptance packet. To apply, visit www.scahs.org/facts/.

October 29, 2023: Open House - SCA will be hosting an in-person Open House from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. To register, visit www.scahs.org/events/.

November 1, 2023: Information Session - SCA will be hosting an in-person information session from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Click here to register.

November 3, 2023: Online TACHS Exam Day.

December 13, 2023: Paper TACHS Applicant Records for Public School Students due to students' three (3) high school choices. The TACHS Applicant Record can be found online in the TACHS Student Handbook. Applicant Records can be emailed to [email protected].

January 17, 2024: Students will receive their Acceptance Letters via email between 4:00 pm and Midnight as well as in the mail.

January 18, 2024: First SCA Entrance Exam. See below to register.

February 7, 2024: Deadline for Application Card to be returned.

What does it mean to be a Mercy School?

Is there Financial Aid available, if so, how do I apply?
Families in grades 9-12, who are interested in applying for financial aid can do so by applying through FACTS Management. SCA does not offer financial aid assistance for grades 6-8 at this time. Students in grades 9-12 will be notified with their acceptance notices in January. To apply go to the FACTS website:  www.scahs.org/facts/ and create an account. There is a $40 nonrefundable application fee, payable by debit or credit card. Final SCA awards are contingent upon funds available and the number of families requesting aid.  
 
Your 2022 taxes and W-2s should be attached to your financial aid application.
For current SCA students, the Financial Aid window will be open from March to May 2023 with announcements made in July.
 
Does SCA offer an academic scholarship?
An invitation to become a Trustee Scholar, SCA academic scholarship program, is awarded to freshmen who achieve a rank of 92nd percentile on the TACHS examination and meet attendance and behavioral requirements. Students must place SCA on her list of schools on the TACHS in order to be considered for a Trustee Scholarship. A Trustee Scholarship is equal to 55% of tuition. Students must follow the prescribed course of study and meet academic and behavioral standards to remain eligible. Students may enter the Trustee Scholar Program at any level.
 
How do I get to SCA?
St. Catharine Academy is located in the heart of the Bronx. We are conveniently located on Williamsbridge Road and Pelham Parkway. Our Laconia Avenue side Lobby Entrance is located directly across the street from the 5 train station (Pelham Parkway stop). In addition, the BX 8 and 12 buses stop on Williamsbridge Road and Pelham Parkway. We are also in close proximity to the Metro-North Fordham train station.
 
What is SCA's Average Class Size?
The average class size is about 25 students. The class sizes depend on the grade level and subject that students are taking. 
 
What is SCA's Student/Faculty Ratio?
The student-to-faculty ratio is 17:1.
 
Does SCA offer a Breakfast and Lunch Program?
Yes, SCA does offer a Breakfast and Lunch Program. The breakfast and lunch program is professionally prepared by Division Food Service Management. We do not offer the city breakfast - lunch free or reduced program. Students are welcome to bring their own lunch.
 
Do students have to wear uniforms at SCA, if so where are they ordered from?
Students are required to wear a school uniform. Uniforms are ordered through Liebman's. For grades 9-12, the SCA gym uniform is an SCA T-Shirt (which can be purchased at the book room in the cafeteria) and school-appropriate sweatpants, leggings, or shorts. 
 
Does SCA require an additional application outside of the TACHS Exam in order to apply?
If you missed the TACHS exam you must take St. Catharine Academy's entrance exam.  The cost is $75.00 which will be applied to your application fee of $200 if accepted to St. Catharine Academy.  Partaking in this exam in no way implies acceptance to SCA.  Our entrance exam is virtual. It will be offered periodically. To register for the SCA Exam, please click on the attached link. You will also need to attach the form below completed by your principal or guidance counselor with a scan of your report cards for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
