Welcome to SCA

Welcome from our President

Welcome to St. Catharine Academy where for 130 years we have been investing in the power of educating girls and young women with the conviction that educational excellence is educational relevance. I am a proud alumna of SCA, Class of 1962, and I invite you to peruse the pages of our website and discover for yourself the value of a St. Catharine Academy education for today and tomorrow.

St. Catharine Academy’s entire school program is guided by our mission to prepare young women, in the Mercy tradition, for college success, leadership and engagement in the world community. How do we do this? We strive to accomplish our goals through a high quality, diverse academic program that ensures every student can put her strongest foot forward. To be prepared for college, beyond our rigorous Regents, Honors, and AP classes, we focus on 21st Century skills such as technological literacy, critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication. To grow in our Mercy tradition of compassion and service, every student gives service to our broader community at such places as local nursing homes, hospitals, food pantries, elementary schools. To grow in leadership every student has the opportunity to participate in clubs and school organizations, athletics, and other enriching experiences. If a club doesn’t exist, they can start one. Our entire program is designed to help each student take on life’s challenges with confidence.

One of SCA’s greatest strengths is our diversity. Our diversity is reflected in the racial, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds of our students, faculty and staff. In the big picture, our school environment prepares our students for engagement in the global community. Day to day, our students say, SCA values diversity because our environment allows for students to feel accepted and comfortable. There is a place for everyone in our school.

Thank you for visiting us. I am delighted that you are interested in St. Catharine Academy. We welcome 8th grade girls to Spend-a-Day with us to learn more so you can experience firsthand, a day in the life of a Catharinite.

In Mercy,
