Welcome to SCA
From our President: Mrs. Kerry Bader
Welcome to St. Catharine Academy! Thank you for taking the time to explore our website and learn more about our school.
Every school has unique, differentiating principles. What drew me to St. Catharine’s was the foundational values central to the school’s mission. Mission-centered education impels us to live up to the ideals and legacy of our foundress, Catherine McAuley. Catherine’s story is an interesting one. A caretaker to a wealthy family, she inherited their estate. Basically, overnight she became a millionaire. But what makes her extraordinary is what she did with this wealth-she turned it towards others. She recognized the potential in all members of the community and worked to make this potential a reality.
At St. Catharine Academy we take our responsibility to her legacy seriously. Our faculty and staff are committed to developing the full potential in all our students. We do this by rooting our school in four important principles:
- Academic Excellence- Our students are able to take advanced, honors and AP courses in the humanities, math and science.
- Cultivation of Leadership- Students take leadership roles in Student Government, clubs and the National Honor Society. And we also recognize the subtle ways in which students lead-through class discussions and mentoring of others.
- Health and Wellness- Our physical education and athletic programs allow our students to develop strength and flexibility and our guidance department helps our students navigate a path to social and emotional wellness.
- Creativity- In the art room, dance studio, writing classes and public speaking opportunities, our students are trained to use their talents to elevate their voices.
These core principles are anchored to the promise that our students never walk alone. They walk with their classmates and teachers; they walk with the thousands of alumnae who preceded them and most importantly they walk with a God who loves them all the time, no matter what. A God who journeys with them, and when the journey gets rough, picks them up and carries them through to the other side.
Like a majestic elm tree that is deeply rooted and thus able to withstand storms, the roots that we instill in our students give them the confidence to overcome challenges, advocate for justice and lead with compassion.
For 135 years St. Catharine Academy has enabled young girls to become women of purpose. We welcome you to join us.
