Three alumnae are beginning the new school year by sharing their talents with St. Catharine Academy. They are taking on the roles of Board of Trustees member, dean of student services and mathematics teacher.
SCA’s cheer teams have become a regular part of the Tunnel to Towers Run each September. The 5K run follows in the heroic footsteps of Stephen Siller, a firefighter who ran through the tunnel, to join first responders on 9/11.
On this day in 1827, Catherine McAuley opened the House on Baggot Street in Ireland as a school for poor young girls and a residence for homeless girls and women. Anna Maria Doyle and Catherine Byrn began these works of mercy with Catherine.
Catharinite Award - Ashley DeLeon Ashley was a member of the nationally ranked Robotics Competition team, founder of the Dance team, an Academy Ambassador, a member of the National Beta Society, National English Honor Society and National Honor Society and President of the Student Council.
In Her Footsteps Award - Samantha Sanzaro Samantha was a member of the cheer and volleyball teams, the Photography, Environmental and Campus Ministry clubs. In addition, she was an Academy Ambassador and President of the National Honor Society.
Three St. Catharine Academy students were among the approximately 90 high school students who had their work exhibited at the StArt 2019 Regional High School Art Exhibition at Concordia College in Bronxville, New York. Thirty-one private and public high schools from the Bronx and Westchester, Fairfield, Orange, and Rockland Counties participated in the exhibition. Goals of the exhibition are to give high school students an opportunity to showcase their work in a professional gallery and to build their credentials and portfolios for college. Students from St. Catharine Academy who participated are seniors Shania Burrus, Kamilah Guerrero, and Leeana Mullamphy.
